3. Remove integrated antenna and pole from the box .
Beacon Model only- Screw antenna on large plastic thread until antenna is close to seating on thread shoulder. Align short cable with TNC connector to Antenna connector and screw finger tight. It does not matter if the antenna does not seat on thread shoulder but it is important to align male and female TNC before attempting to screw together. Notice on the other end of pole a large integrated connector.
4. Remove Vest from box, Unfold - be careful of 2007 in pocket.
5. Unzip the TUSANI (tm) pocket zipper to expose the top female connector on housing. Holding housing steady align pole to connector then screw antenna pole until firm. * Make sure thread is aligned correctly so that cross threading does not occur.
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. A light firm bottoming resistance should be encountered when the connector is tight. If cross threading is occurring remove pole and re-engage checking alignment.
6. Remove 2 bay battery charger from box connect to wall plug mains charger and locate on convenient space on your PC desk.
7. Remove 2007 wall plug charger, install in mains outlet and connect to DB9 plug on bottom of 2007. You should see a flashing orange LED in top recess of 2007 indicating that 2007 is on charge. Leave connected until flashing LED is continuously on. This indicates that battery on 2007 is fully charged. The 2007 should be left connected to charger when not in use as the internal RAM will draw down battery voltage to hold programs until exhausted.
It does not harm the 2007 to leave on charge.
8. If you are not going to use the TUSANI(tm) for a period of time or have just unpacked the unit it is wise to keep the camcorder batteries on charge as they have an internal management chip that draws power over a period of time and don't believe the manufacturer information claiming " low internal self discharge." From experience with all manufactured products of this nature there is a 10-20% self discharge per week. It is best to remove Batteries from Cassette and leave on charge until use.
* At the end of each working Day don't forget to remove batteries from the Tusani and recharge overnight.
To Remove batteries from the TUSANI lay Vest on flat desk, unzip pocket all the way down, half remove housing from pocket, slide battery cassette cover until both batteries pop out. Be careful not to drop batteries from desk as the plastic housings are fragile. Most times they will survive but I have known that the internal connections can break loose.
*This is a small price to pay for convenience of obtaining such an efficient energy source anywhere in the world.
How to be productive in 10 minutes
1. Take Vest from Hanger and go outside where a clear view of the sky is available.
2. With hanger loop of Vest, grab antenna pole and slip over head, tighten Velcro straps until comfortable.
3. Connect 2007 to data/power cable, the TUSANI should automatically switch on which is indicated by the flashing orange LED in recess on top of 2007 face panel. ( This will be faint in bright sunlight so you may have to cup your hand over recess to verify.) Also, there is a power icon displayed on the Task Bar at the bottom of the screen when external power is applied.
4. Remove stylus from storage at bottom of 2007, tap the ON switch in bottom recess for less than 1 second. The 2007 should power up where it was switched off.
5. If desk top not displayed on 2007 tap and hold extreme bottom Right hand corner, this should bring up hidden task bar.

Sets preset baud rate, GPS parameter options like keep object in View, choice of GPS screen marker, correct co-ordinate system, Status of GPS and line colour and thickness display. * At any time you change these functions and save as your own config. file either in main memory or a config folder.
9. Allow 3 to 4 minutes from switch-on to capture first satellite timing signal and then other satellite positions. A quick check is to go to File, tap options choose Status field, tap right arrow choose "GPS Status" tap OK.
You should have GPS status displayed in status bar at bottom of screen.
After 4 minutes you should have number of satellites locked on ie 7 sat hdop 2.3 and differential status as displayed as "Diff".

This will drop down The Graphic Toolbox for you to choose a Star (point feature) snake line ( line feature) rectangle bottom button (area feature)
If you choose MapInfo format when setting up layer you can store points lines and areas all in one layer. If you choose SHP format (ESRI) you will need to change preset layers to store points, lines and areas.
The software will prompt you to do this when required.
